Christmas Tree and an Apple Seed

Here is our Christmas Tree this year! It is a way pretty tree and so bushy. We went to Smith's and grabbed one that wasn't the smallest or the biggest. When we got it home and into the house, the branches started to bush out and they just kept going. I had lights that covered our tree last year plus an extra box, but after using all those I still had to go get more. I love our tree though! And the smell of a real tree is the best!!!!!!
Okay, so last year a student gave me this plant and it was so pretty. But I accidently left it out on the deck this fall and it froze. I was sad. But Farley said he was going to save it. After a few weeks of trying to get it to come back to life, I walked in the kitchen to find him poking the dirt.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Planting a seed," he told me.
"In the dead plants dirt?"
"Yep!"
"What kind of seed?"
"An apple seed."
"An apple seed?"
"Uh-huh, I already planted a popcorn seed in there."
I just said "oh" and walked away. Well a couple days ago the apple seed started to sprout!! It looks kinda cool growing next to the dead plant. But if you look real close at the dead plant, it is actually starting to have new growth towards the bottom! So now Farley has two plants growing in the same pot.

Thanksgiving!!!

We went to Blanding for Thanksgiving and it was soooo much fun!! On Thanksgiving day we went up to the cabin with Granny Marg, Teresa, Meiko, Forrest, Shirley, and Skyler. It was so pretty with all the snow falling and everything covered in white. Over the next few days we went to Muley Point and wow! It was pretty...and freezing!! But the view made it all worth it. We also went shooting guns with Devan and Tiff. On Saturday night Dev, Tiff, Cody, Amanda, and Farley and I went to Homestead for dinner. It was fun talking and laughing with everyone. After we went back to Forrest and Shirley's and watched the Jazz game. Cash was so cute! He kept eveyone entertained and laughing the whole time. Everything went by too fast, but luckily we will be able to go back for part of Christmas break!!

Zeb & Hil in Arizona, Twilight, a Basketball Game, and Blanding

I went and watched Twilight on Monday. My hopes weren't very high for this movie because I usually do not like movies that were originally books. Especially if it was a book I liked. So, if you have not watched the movie yet, stop reading because I'm going to let you know what I think. Since my expectations weren't high, I wasn't disappointed. It was actually better than I thought it would be. I wasn't a fan of Edward, but I liked Bella. Rosalee and Alice were my favorite! Jasper just looked wrong. I liked Charlie and Jacob. Bella's friends at school were okay. Esme was beautiful. And I thought the kitchen scene was real funny, along with the graduation caps thing. And that is it.

Arizona. I went to Tempe to present at a National Behavior Conference with researchers from BYU. I've been doing Positive Behavior Support with kids in my classroom and it rocks! It is definitely more fun to be a positive teacher. The trip was amazing! I learned so much. It was warm and everything was paid for. But the best part of the entire trip was seeing Zeb and Hilary. I have missed hanging out with them so much. It is not like we would hang out everyday while they were in Ogden, but still we miss them.

Stacy (my little sister) played basketball on Saturday in Price. It was fun watching her. CEU won and Stacy played awesome! P.S. good job to the Utes for winning too!!

We are now in Blanding, and I can't tell you how nice it is to be out of the city. I can hear the chickens clucking out the window and Shirley and I watched the most beautiful sunrise over the Sleeping Ute this morning. I will never understand the hold cities have over people when they could live in small towns with space around them and the only time people honk their horn at you is to say hi, not to flip you off on the freeway.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Eat lotsa turkey!!

Jazz Game with Grandma!!

On Wednesday, I went to the Jazz game with my grandma! It was a lot of fun!! Farley had class so I regularly updated him with text messages.

The ESA had new lights and a new sound system put in, so the intro for the players was pretty much amazing!!

Collin Ray and the National Guard did the National Athem. It was even better than the intro's.

Introducing the players.

This is Really Interesting!!

I thought you might enjoy this - it all is amazing to me! A teacher friend gave this to me. She uses these images to show the size of Earth related to our solar system. By the end of reading through this, I always feel so small and realize that the universe really doesn't revolve around me and that my focus on my life should be broadened a bit to bring in more.

Now, beyond our sun it is a big universe.

Antares is the 15th brightest star in the sky. It is more than 1,000 light years away.
Now try to think about this...
The picture below is from a hubble telescope ultra deep field inflared view of countless enitre galaxies billions of light years away.

This is a close-up of one of the dark regions in the picture above.

Makes you feel pretty small, huh?

Our Weekend in Southern Utah

So this weekend we went to St. George! It was so so so so much fun! Thank you Forrest and Shirley. You guys rock!! The first night we stayed in Parowan. It was fun! I forgot to take pictures though and now I'm kicking myself. Oh well. We played pool, went swimming, and ate at this cute little cafe that has probably been around since before me. The next day we drove down to St. George. We went shopping and watched Forever Strong!! Such a good movie!!!!! Definitely a must-see-it-now movie. We ate at Texas Roadhouse then checked in to the motel.

That night we went to Tuacahn to watch Les Miserables. It was so great!! I have never been there and I was amazed at the location of Tuacahn. It is in the back of this boxed in red canyon and the amphitheatre was set with the back of the stage opening up to a natural stage of dirt and rocks. Amazing is all I have to say.

The next morning we woke up and went to Cracker Barrell! It was yummy!!!!!

Thanks Tricia!!

We went over to Tricia's house last week for a bbq. Stacie and Linds were there and we ended up making these! Tricia taught us how and they turned out great! It was easier than I thought and a lot of fun. The flash reflected right in the middle, so it looks like they are staring at the flash. But you all know what picture this is. I want to make some again. So who ever wants one, grab your stuff and come on over!

A Moose!

Farley and I went to Tabiona this weekend and on our way back as we were coming through Provo Canyon we both looked over to the side of the road at the same time and there was a moose! So we flipped around and went to take some pictures! It is a pretty good sized moose and really calm, not spooked at all. We were only like 10 yards away from it. Kinda scary to be that close to a moose!
